Lift:

Lift is the upward force produced by the air on wing because of the shape (Airfoil) of the wing. Lift is the one which keeps the aircraft on air against gravity, At the time of Takeoff lift is more than the weight of the aircraft, While cruising lift is equal to the weight of the aircraft, while landing lift is less than the weight of the aircraft.

The formula of the lift having the components of Density, Speed of the aircraft, Surface area of the wing, Lift coefficient.

  • Density – It is the density of air in the atmosphere it cannot be changed by human  (But density changes with altitude at the time by varying the velocity of aircraft  constant lift is achieved).
  • Speed of the aircraft can be changed by increasing the thrust produced by the engine
  • Surface area of the wing is constant, But considerable changes can be made using secondary control surfaces.
  • Coefficient of lift is constant. It is calculated during the designing of the aircraft testing a model in wind tunnel or by By using flow analysis software.

From above, we can vary the lift by varying any one of the or both of the two components (Velocity of the aircraft  and secondary control surfaces) in the mid flight.
